Strong growth in Brazilian tilapia aquaculture.
Aquaculture in Brazil is experiencing strong growth and the fin fish species tilapia in particular.
From year 2008 to 2009 Brazilian aquaculture increased production volume by 13,8% and tilapia by 19,6%, according to data published by the Brazilian Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA). In nine years, from year 2000, Brazilian aquaculture has increased by a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10,3%, and tilapia aquaculture by 17,0%.
